prime source of famous names
Yesterday I ended up talking about creating jokes from married women's names. The source I recommended for suitable candidates was a modern humorous quote book, 'The Funniest Thing You Never Said', by Rosemarie Jarski. Any reasonably modern quote book will do.
The indexes of these books almost always list the originators of the quotes, so they are great for finding hundreds of names of well known people all in one place.
Swift highlighting run-through
There were eleven definites and a lot more which would take longer to work out.
So you can see the selection I had was like opening a box of luxury chocolates.
carving out a joke about boris johnson
I found several, which instantly led me to this gag, which is on the lines of a 'rule of three' joke:
Boris Johnson comes from a long and noble tradition of Borises, including two popes, Boris Becker, Boris Karloff and Boris the Borzoi from the Lady and the Tramp.
The key to gags of this format is to arrange the list, whatever it is, from quite serious to utterly ridiculous.
That's all for today, folks!
Do drop in again soon!
